Medigap Plan K

Medicare Medigap Plan K is a cost-sharing, standardized Medicare Supplement plan that offers lower monthly premiums in exchange for higher out-of-pocket expenses.

It covers 50% of most Medicare cost-sharing requirements, including Part A deductibles, hospice, and skilled nursing coinsurance, featuring an annual out-of-pocket limit ($8,000 in 2026) for protection against high costs.

Note: For Plans K and L, after you meet your out-of-pocket yearly limit and your yearly Part B deductible ($283 in 2026), the Medigap plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the calendar year.

The chart above shows basic information about the different benefits Medigap policies cover

  • 100% =  the plan covers 100% of this benefit
  • X = the plan doesn’t cover this benefit
  • % = the plan covers that percentage of this benefit and you’re responsible for the rest
  • N/A = not applicable

The Medigap policy will only pay your coinsurance after you’ve paid the deductible (unless the Medigap policy also covers your deductible).
