Count down to an anniversary, birthday, retirement date, reunion, deadline, or other important date, or calculate how much time has passed since a date. Enter the date and optional time, then review the live countdown, elapsed time, and full calculation.
The calculator automatically starts in Since mode for a past date and Countdown mode for a future date. For a past date, you can also switch to Countdown to see the next yearly occurrence.
Privacy: calculations, calendar files, and PDF exports are created in your browser. Partner reminders use your device's share feature when available, or copy a reminder message for you to paste into a text or email.
This calculator measures elapsed time between two browser-local date and time values. In Countdown mode, it measures the time from right now to the target date. In Since mode, it measures the time from the entered date to right now.
When the entered date is already in the past and you manually choose Countdown, the calculator treats the month, day, and entered time as an annual recurrence and finds the next occurrence. This makes it useful for wedding anniversaries, birthdays, annual events, and other dates that repeat each year.
The result is based on elapsed milliseconds and seconds. Daylight saving time transitions can therefore make an interval differ from a simple count of calendar dates.
The browser's local time zone is used. A partner reminder link opened in another time zone may display a different local clock time and remaining interval.
For annual countdowns from a February 29 date, the calculator uses February 28 in a non-leap target year. This is a calculator convention, not a legal rule.
The calculator follows four steps so you can see exactly which date is being used and how the live result is produced.
Enter the original anniversary or event date, or a future date you want to track.
Add a specific clock time if it matters. Otherwise the calculator uses 12:00 AM.
Past dates start in Since mode. Future dates start in Countdown mode. Past dates can also be counted down to their next annual occurrence.
The result updates every second and shows total days, remaining hours, minutes, seconds, approximate months, approximate years, and the full formula.
Suppose the current time is September 1, 2026 at 8:00 AM and the next anniversary occurs September 11, 2026 at 2:30:45 PM.
A countdown clock and a calendar are related but not identical. This tool measures elapsed time based on your browser's local timestamps. That distinction matters around daylight saving time changes and when a reminder link is opened in a different time zone.
The selected date is interpreted as 12:00 AM local time.
The calculator initially selects Since. You can manually switch to Countdown to target the next annual occurrence of that month and day.
The calculator selects Countdown. Since mode is not used for a future date because no elapsed time has occurred yet.
Months and years do not all contain the same number of days, so those outputs use average lengths. The exact day, hour, minute, and second result is based on the timestamp difference.
